oh goodness, i haven't started out too well with my blogging... i meant to write yesterday but by the time i was free i was SO tired i jumped in the shower then fell into bed. oh well! better late than never!
denver is BEAUTIFUL! everywhere you look you see mountains. it's so amazing. and so far the people i've met are great. my days are very busy. we were given a calendar with the next month of training and minute by minute scheduling. let's just say, i'll be tired a lot!
the weather here is SO different from south carolina. the air is weird... i don't know how to explain it other than when you breathe it's like you have to breathe deeper to get in the same amount of air i normally would. they make us drink a ton of water because evidently that is the cure for altitude sickness. so i've been drinking a ton! some of the side effects of the altitude are headaches, sleepiness and throwing up. luckily i don't think i really have altitude sickness but i can definitely tell my body is trying to adjust. as for the weather part, it's warm during the days... i guess. i wear a hoodie mostly. but mornings and nights are so cold. the mornings and nights here are about as cold as it gets in hartsville in our seriously cold times! and it's not even considered winter here yet! i'm very glad i brought thermal underwear!
i got my uniform today and it's probably the worst outfit i've ever worn in my life. ever. seriously. we have to wear men's cargo shorts and pants. and they fit SO weird. we have to wear our uniforms everyday when we work so that's five days a week.
i'm just getting settled into my room. i've unpacked my boxes and carry on all that's left is my suitcase. i keep looking at it and thinking alright benton it's time. but i still haven't unpacked it! it's getting in the way though considering how very small our rooms are... so i guess i'll break down and unpack it when i'm done with this!
i know i'll be busy a lot but i promise i truly will try and update my blog on a regular basis (at least a couple of times a week).
i hope everyone is doing wonderful back in south carolina! oh, and people think it's strange how i most of my stuff has palmetto trees on it... evidently south carolina is about the only state that wears their state flag on everything...
